TYPE:Surfactant.
DESCRIPTION: Alpha Olefin Sulfonate (AOS) is a high-foaming but mild anionic surfactant.
BENEFITS AND USES-
- It has an extraordinary ability to clean your skin without stripping it off its natural oils.
- Add this to your shampoos and conditioners to make some great sulfate-free products.
- It is skin and environmentally friendly.
- It resists hard water well making it an efficient detergent and cleanser.
- It enhances the viscosity of your formulation and you can find it in almost all liquid detergents.
- Readily biodegradable
- Broad pH stability
- Good for sulfate-free formulations
- Excellent viscosity capacity
- It works by breaking the surface tension of water which allows the water to clear dirt, dust, and grime.
- It forms micelles in water and works by attaching dirt to the hydrophobic end that gets washed away with water

Solubility: Water . insoluble in oil
Recommended Usage Level
10% - 20% (Face Wash)
15% - 30% (Shower Gel / Bath Foam / Shampoo)
Maximum Usage Level 30
pH: 11.5-12.5;
HOW TO USE-
- Melt Any surfactants of your choice.
- Add AOS to the melted surfactant base.
- Pour the base into the cold water phase and then add the oil phase to it.
- Stir and adjust the pH.
Precautions
At pure usage levels it can cause irritation to the skin.
When blending always take the following precautions:
- Use gloves (disposable are ideal)
- Take care when handling hot oils
- Wear eye protection
- Work in a well ventilated room
- Keep ingredients and hot oils away from children
- If ingested, seek immediate medical advice
- If contact made with eyes, rinse immediately with clean warm water and seek medical advice if in any doubt.
